Rishikesh in northern India is where the river Ganges enters the plains of north India swiftly flowing 250 kms from its origin, the Gangotri Glacier, one of the largest in the Himalayas. Taking a turn to the south it slows down in anticipation of the hundreds of thousands of Hindus lining its banks waiting to immerse themselves as it courses through the countryside.
